At Coco, we are starting to build out some e-commerce sites. In order to expedite the process, we are using Substruct as a solution. While working with it, I have noticed a few things that needed to be fixed.
With engines setup properly, you are capable of extending routes beyond what’s provided with the substruct engine. This was not the case beforehand. I was able to track down the bug and submit some patches to mend the problem.
If you are using substruct and want to customize it (adding additional controllers either to the admin or outside the admin) you’ll need to get the latest substruct. Check out the issue here.
You can find download links there.
Working on open source projects is a lot of fun. It’s interesting to see how other people do things. Contributing gives developers like me a boost of confidence. I plan on finding and fixing more bugs in the future for this project and others.
This Labor Day weekend was spent at my Nanny’s. My mom and I took a trip up to Hawkinsville, GA to see her because of her worsening health. Her memory is fading and she barely has an appetite. It’s very sad to see her in this state. She does remember me and most people, but doesn’t remember much after things happen. She has to take so much medicine!
We are tracking hurricane Gustav because it is very close to Pensacola. We will have to drive through some of the bands that are approaching land. I suggested that we leave earlier than planned because I despise driving in heavy rains.
Nanny mentioned how she wishes she would have written more in a journal. I wish also. It’s not too late for her or me.
Shambhala is awesome and inspiring. It’s one of the best introductions of meditation I have read. Very practical.
I have an idea for an iPhone app that mimics the speed reading application I saw earlier this week.
I have been snapping some photos here and there while at Nanny’s. I love taking pictures. Hopefully that hobby never dies.
I wonder how long this will last…
Even though I feel as though nothing much has happened, it feels like I could write forever
Need to give more attention to my fading Nanny.

Cute! (good book too)

Tammy outside the Coco offices for a quick photoshoot. Jay was talking to her and making her laugh. Lots of work in Lightroom to soften skin and whiten teeth. Additional miscellaneous tweaks were made also.

Grabbed this awkward shot off my TubeStick Hybrid (Free over-the-air HDTV)
I added some new features including:
Most of these features allow you to keep the app open (as long as it doesn’t crash). Check it out!

I’m trying out Adobe Lightroom and I must say that it has exceeded my expectations. I thought for a while that iPhoto would suffice. I had tried out Aperture as well, but it didn’t have the inital impact that Lightroom did, plus it’s cheaper. While I’m sure both Aperture and Lightroom excel is their own areas, I will recommend Lightroom to anyone wanting to use powerful post-processing tools.

The giant in the park was a nice surprise — the effect of the sun rising behind me.

Mom and I having fun setting up a pic to send in to the Jarvis winery. She had fun with the shadows while I had fun with my new lens. :)
